I am a psychiatrist and clinical neuroscientist from the Medical University of Vienna, currently visiting Til Ole Bergmann’s lab as a visiting researcher for a joint project on focused transcranial ultrasound stimulation (fTUS) and functional PET imaging (fPET).Born and raised in Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany, my medical studies took me to Vienna, with additional stops in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Compostela and Berlin. I obtained my PhD in Clinical Neurosciences from the Medical University of Vienna.

My research includes both diagnostic and therapeutic elements. I focus on multimodal functional neuroimaging methods to assess brain structure and function in health and disease. The methods used range from fPET to assess dynamic changes in glucose metabolism in large functional brain networks to imaging transcriptomics. On the interventional side, I am interested in non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) methods.

In previous work at the Vienna Neuroimaging Labs, we assessed functional and molecular effects of theta-burst transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in patients with treatment-resistant depression. In our current project, we aim to establish dynamic changes of the cerebral glucose metabolism as a quantitative marker of focused transcranial ultrasound stimulation.
